Princess Dress

This is the reason why Mommies love having little girls. The princess dress shown to the right is one version of this year's Halloween costume (if it survives two months of constant wear and tear). The satin finish on the dress was a little slippery compared to the cotton I'm use to sewing on, but with a few adjustments to my serging setup, the edges that normally fray were nicely finished.

Embellishments include a "Cinderella button" taken from a store-bought princess dress that didn't survive the constant wear and tear since Christmas. On the skirt overlay, I embellished with metallic fabric stars and buttons. The metallic stars were recycled from hair accessories from the dollar store. With princess dresses, more is better, so I'm sure the next one will find even more accessories to attach to make it fancy.

The trouble is, my family doesn't own any fancy clothes. That's okay. I go find--what is that fancy word? Oh yes! - some accessories! (Fancy Nancy)
