Easter Dress

Easter is coming early this year, so in preparation for this holiday, it was time to enjoy sewing with beautiful uplifting spring fabrics. This is the third dress I've sewn in the past few weeks for my daughter who has been patiently waiting for me put aside my business activities.
Her favorite color is pink, so this is the third dress in pink hues I've recently completed. After completely this dress, I'm really tempted to return for more fabric and make myself a matching blouse. (What a novel idea, sewing for myself.) When you have a child who loves new dresses as much as mine does, sewing for myself never seems as rewarding.

The favorite part of this dress is the sleeves. Each sleeve has four tucks (or darts) making them stand out away from the shoulder almost like having shoulder pads. If I make a blouse for myself, maybe I can duplicate this beautiful design. The pattern for this dress is Simplicity #5483. There are several views for this dress, I've made it twice before using long sleeves rather than short.

The hair accessory is made from the same fabric used on the collar. It is filled with 3/4 " elastic and a small bow with a pink button is added to make it very princess like. (Snow White wears a similar one.) I completed the hair accessory four days ago and now she is wearing it in her hair for the fourth day in a row. Thank goodness it goes with other dresses in her wardrobe. I think its time to make a few more!
